PTFE Coated Fiberglass Adhesive Tape is a high-performance industrial tape. It uses fiberglass cloth as a backing material, coated with a layer of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE, commonly known as "Teflon") on one or both sides through a special coating process. The other side, or a designated side, is then coated with a high-performance silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive or acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive.
Its structure can be understood as follows:
Structure 1:
High-temperature-resistant silicone/acrylic adhesive layer + high-strength fiberglass cloth reinforcement layer + non-stick and heat-resistant PTFE coating
Structure 2:
High-temperature-resistant silicone/acrylic adhesive layer + high-strength fiberglass cloth reinforcement layer + non-stick and heat-resistant PTFE coating + high-temperature-resistant silicone/acrylic adhesive layer
PTFE Coated Fiberglass Adhesive Tape can be classified according to various criteria:
1. By adhesive surface:
·Single-sided tape: Adhesive is applied to only one side, with a non-stick Teflon surface on the other side. This is the most common type.
· Double-Sided Tape: Adhesive coated on both sides, with a fiberglass cloth and Teflon coating in between, used for specialized bonding applications.
2. By PTFE Coating:
·PTFE Coating: Standard non-stick, chemical-resistant coating.
·Specially Treated PTFE Coating (such as ETFE, PFA): Surface modification to improve abrasion resistance, folding resistance, or bonding performance.
3. By Adhesive Type:
·Silicone Pressure-Sensitive Adhesive
·Acrylic Pressure-Sensitive Adhesive, commonly known as Acrylic Adhesive
4. By Color and Thickness:
·Common colors include brown (natural), black, and white; other colors can be customized.
·Thicknesses range from 0.08mm to 0.50mm, with different thicknesses tailored to varying mechanical strength and temperature resistance requirements.
5. By Temperature Resistance Rating:
·Low-Temperature Type: Continuous Temperature 150°C
·Standard Type: Continuous Temperature Approximately 260°C
·High-Temperature Type: Utilizes a special silicone adhesive, offering continuous temperature resistance up to 280°C and above.
6. Classification by Anti-Static Properties
· Anti-Static Grade
· Non-Anti-Static Grade
PTFE Coated Fiberglass Adhesive Tape combines the superior properties of multiple materials. Its key features include:
Excellent High-Temperature Resistance: This is its core characteristic. It can operate in temperatures ranging from -70°C to 260°C for extended periods and can withstand temperatures up to 300°C for short periods without melting or decomposing.
·Excellent Non-Stick and Chemical Resistance: The PTFE surface has an extremely low surface energy, making it impervious to adhesion to almost all substances and resistant to most strong acids, bases, solvents, and oils.
·High Mechanical Strength and Toughness: The fiberglass cloth backing provides exceptionally high tensile strength and tear resistance, resisting deformation and breakage, ensuring durability.
·Excellent Dimensional Stability: It maintains its shape and dimensions even in high-temperature environments, without shrinking or excessively expanding. Self-adhesive and easy to remove: The silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive on the back has moderate adhesion, making it easy to apply and typically leaving no residue after removal (depending on the surface and heating time).
·Flame-retardant and electrically insulating: It is inherently non-flammable and has good electrical insulation properties.
